Signal Index is an independent publication that explores the changes in science and technology beginning to shape the future.
Rather than focusing on headlines, product launches or short-term trends, it looks beyond the daily news to identify the broader changes that may reshape research, industry, infrastructure and society over the coming years.
Signal Index does not aim to predict the future, discover the next new technology or chase technology trends. Its purpose is to follow credible evidence as scientific discoveries and technological advances move from laboratories into wider real-world use, building a long-term archive of meaningful change.
The aim is not simply to ask what is new.
The aim is to understand what is changing and why it matters.
Why Signal Index Exists
Signal Index began with a simple observation: some of the changes with the greatest long-term impact become obvious only after they are already widely established.
The problem is not a lack of information. Valuable research and technological advances emerge every day across different disciplines, organisations and countries. The challenge is seeing how these developments connect and what larger changes may be taking shape while they are still emerging.
Signal Index was created to help address that challenge.
Rather than reporting technology news, it follows credible evidence over time to understand how important changes develop, spread and eventually become part of the wider world.
The long-term ambition is to build a trusted archive of the changes shaping our world, one carefully evidenced observation at a time.
